about the friends of wabakimi

Friends of Wabakimi (FOW) is an Ontario not-for-profit corporation created to carry on the work of The Wabakimi Project  to document canoe routes and advocate for the natural, cultural and historical resources in the Wabakimi Area. We have members from all over Canada and the United States and even one in Switzerland.

Wabakimi is remote, yet accessible. By providing maps, guides and route information FOW encourages and supports canoeists and others seeking a unique Wabakimi experience. At the same time, we are respectful of the area’s cultural heritage and First Nation communities. Our vision recognizes Wabakimi as a world class canoeing destination that will be a sustainable ecosystem with abundant wildlife, fish and natural resources for all time.
