Here's the full PDF report with photos from Shannon Walshe, W.P.P. Biologist. (See Update below.)

"(This report) is a summary of what we have already accomplished on our Long term bird song monitoring project as well as our collaborative efforts with the Ontario Breeding Bird Surveys to date. We really appreciate the additional 11 meters the Friends group has raised money for. It means that we now have a complete set of 25 for our OBBA blocks. We love these new light and compact units!"  Shannon Walshe, W.P.P.

Thanks to all the FOW donations – Wabakimi now has a complete set of 25 mini meters! Perfect for back country!

Wabakimi Song Meters:

• 10 units dispersed throughout park placed on edges of wetlands to maximize species diversity and amphibians- zone project 80 units
• Bird recordings half hour after sunrise for 10 min
• Amphibian recordings half hour after sunset for 5 min
• Bat  calls require special mic and unit with high frequency
• Drive road-based bat transects at dark or spot specific recording

There is a free app you can download Called the Merlin app Download Merlin Bird ID for iOS and Android – Merlin Bird ID – Free, instant bird identification help and guide for thousands of birds (allaboutbirds.org) where you can record bird calls and it will help you identify the calls.
